Kalamazoo Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired a nonprofit, organization promoting independence and active participation of blind and visually impaired persons in our community.

Welcome to the KCBVI web site. We hope you find the information provided in these pages helpful in learning of the resources the City of Kalamazoo and surrounding areas have to offer.

You are welcome to join us at our monthly meetings which are held on the second Thursday of the month at the Disability Resource Center, 517 East Crosstown Parkway. We get together at 5:30pm and go to 8:00pm. You do not have to be visually impaired to attend. If you are a friend of, have a family member who is blind or visually impaired, or have an interest in volunteering, we'd love to have you!

Annual KCBVI picnic

Our annual Kalamazoo Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired picnic will be held on Saturday, August 11 at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Lisa Kisiel. Lisa will provide meat to grill; everyone attending is asked to bring a dish to pass. If you need additional information or directions to Lisa's house, please call Lisa at (269) 217-4020.

Sad News

On May 11, long-time member Elizabeth Lennon passed away. Libby was very involved in the American Council of the Blind and for years was the editor of the Braille Forum's column "Here and There." Many were touched by her wit and wisdom. She will be sorely missed.
